HIGHLIGHTS

  • According to reports, Google Pixel 5a will launch in August.
  • This phone will be the successor to Pixel 4a starting in 2020.
  • Google Pixel 5a will launch in Japan and the US, meaning that India may not get the device.

Google Pixel 5a was confirmed for launch later in the year, but a timeline has not been released by the company. This is changing today, however, as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claims that the Google Pixel 5a will launch in August and go on sale in the same month. This is exactly the same launch date as last year's Google Pixel 4a. After rumors and speculations about the cancellation of the Pixel 5a's launch, Google confirmed that the Pixel 5a was indeed in existence. The successor to the Pixel 4a will be only in the US and Japan. Therefore, a launch in India looks unlikely.

Google Pixel 5a specs (rumoured).

Although details about the Pixel 5a specs are still unknown, reports suggest that the handset will sport a 6.2 inch FHD+ OLED screen with a panel of 90Hz. The handset is expected to have dual or triple cameras in the back. This would be a first for the Pixel "a" series. It will likely boot Android 12 straight out of the box. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, which is paired with 4GB/6GB RAM, and up to 128GB of storage. The phone could have 5G, 4G LTE and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity features.

The design of the Google Pixel 5a 5G is revealed in leaked renders. It will feature a punch-hole cutout at the top left corner to allow for selfie snapping and slim bezels. The phone's design is boxy with a square module at the back for dual sensors and an LED flash. On the right spine, you will find the volume rocker as well as white-accented power buttons. The rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is used for security. We don't know much about the Pixel 5a, but we will be able to find out more information when the launch of the device is closer to the date.
